Tapaculo Lite – Using MODBUS

1. Introducing the Tapaculo Lite – MODBUS program.

Thank you for purchasing the DEKIST Radionode family.

Tapaculo Lite – MODBUS software is a free program that allows you to manage the sensor data measured by the Radionode data logger on your PC.

In conjunction with the radio node sub-models RN001 and RN171WC, it is possible to manage the connection of 8 devices and monitoring of up to 32 channels, and use it as a dashboard function to check the sensor data in real time (according to the set time interval). In case of deviation from the set value, the background of the corresponding channel on the dashboard changes to red, and at the same time, the PC notification is basically designed to trigger an immediate response to monitoring.

Characteristic

  • MODBUS – TCP communication method
  • Linking up to 8 devices and supporting up to 32 channels
  • Windows 7, 8, 10 support and MacOS support
  • Data measurement cycle setting function (1 sec, 5 sec, 10 sec, 1 min, 5 min, 10 min)
  • Ability to change alarm settings on remote devices
  • Daily report output function
  • Data chart browsing function

▣ Time Interval : Select the period to read data from the device. You can select from 1 second to 10 minutes. This cycle is the same as the data storage cycle. A cycle that is too short can dramatically increase the file size of your data.

▣ Add Connection / ADD Device : You can add devices and channels.

▣ Create Project : Finish setting up the device and click the corresponding button.
After completing the project creation process, you will be directed to the dashboard screen.

▣ IP Address:PORT : Enter the assigned IP of the device.
* However, it is recommended not to change the port.*

▣ Model : Select according to the model of the device to be used.

▣ Start Address(16bit) : Channel can be selected according to the number of bits.
” ex) 0 bit -> 1~2ch / 4 bit -> 3~4ch / 8 bit -> 5~6ch “

▣ Device Name: You can change the device name.

▣ CH1 Name / CH2 Name : You can change the channel name.

▣ DELETE : Delete device and channel.

3-2. Project detailed function

Raw data can be saved to a file via history. Data files facilitate data sharing and analysis. Record-related functions are placed at the bottom of the screen, and are composed of the REC button, storage time, and storage capacity.

REC at the bottom of the project screen

In the project that is measuring data, press the REC button located at the bottom left of the screen to start recording the sensor value, and the time information when the recording started is displayed next to the REC button in yellow text. When recording starts, a .DAT file is created in the same folder as the project file to record the data.

The REC button changes to a STOP button when sensor data recording starts, and a red button is displayed at the bottom right of the recording notification function. Also, once recording starts, some uses of the menu are restricted and you cannot exit Tapaculo Lite.

The status bar at the bottom shows the path where the project is saved and the frequency of sensor data measurement.

3-4. Permanently delete project files

It does not provide a function to delete a project from the start screen. However, if you delete both the dat and tcp extension files of the project name from the working directory after the relevant actions such as data backup of the project are completed, the list will disappear from the Recent Projects list.
