Connecting to the RN172 wireless LAN

Thank you for purchasing the DEKIST RN172.

RN172 is a device that can use Telnet, ModbusBus/TCP, and HTTP as a WIFI transmission method. The dedicated UA product (separate configuration) is a basic 2CH, and supports interfaces and external sensors such as 4-20mA, 0-1000mV, gas (other than volatile organic compounds).

1. RN172 wireless LAN (WiFi) setup

  1. Supply power and activate AP mode
    • UA product not connectedConnect the adapter to the power connector of the RN172 product with . 'SOFT AP' is displayed on the front screen of the product, and the WiFi setting AP mode to access the internal system of the device is activated.
    • If you supply power to the device while connected to the UA product, you cannot proceed with Wi-Fi setup.
  2. Connecting to the RN172 AP
    • Check the status of 'SOFT AP' on the front screen of RN172, and perform 'WiFi Search' on your smartphone or PC. Select 'RN172_xxxx' with SSID from the searched WiFi APs to connect the device to a smartphone or PC.
  3. Setting up Wi-Fi
    • In the address bar of the web browser on your smartphone or PC 192.168.1.3 Enter .
    • When the setting window is activated on the screen, run “WiFi SCAN” to search the AP list.
    • Select the AP (SSID) to use, enter and save the required information such as password.
    • The wireless router you want to use is working normally, but there are cases where it cannot be searched after running WiFi SCAN. In this case, please set it directly from the console menu. For details, refer to “Setting the network in the console menu” below.
  4. Confirmation of completion
    • 'SAVE DonE' is displayed on the front screen to inform you that the WiFi setting for connecting to the router is complete.

2. Connecting a UA device

  1. Power off.
  2. After connecting the RN172 device and the UA device, connect the 6V DC adapter at the desired location.
  3. As shown in the figure below, the product is reconnected to WiFi while displaying the current status on the front panel screen. ( POWER ON )

3. Check your internet connection


The Internet connection status is indicated by the color change of the LED located on the upper left of the front panel. If the LED flashes green and red, the Internet connection is normal.

  1. Error Symptom 1 (Red LED stays on)
    • If your network uses automatic IP (DHCP), You need to get a fixed IP from the computer team and set it on the product.
      If external Internet connection is not possible due to firewall settings, you must request 'firewall exception handling' from the security team.

  2. Error Symptom 2 (Initial melody sound)
    • If the device is already registered with Radionode365. Duplicate device registration is absolutely not supported. Please log in to Radionode365 to check your device.

  3. Error Symptom 3 (CONN FAIL message displayed on the screen)

    • Check whether the connected AP encryption method is WPA1 or WPA2
    • If the internal channel of the connected AP is 12ch or 13ch, device connection is not possible.

4. Enter Console Menu

  1. Access the website, download the Terminal Program and USB Driver, and install them on your PC. “RadioNodeTerm”Run it.

Network settings from the console menu

If the SSID name you want to use is not found on your smartphone, the method to set up the network in the console menu is as follows.

2. Run Scan WIFI AP to search for the router you want to use.
When the desired SSID name is found in the list, enter the first number to select it and enter the password as the KEY value. If the operation is done correctly, check the J and K items, and then select the same security mode as the router in the L item.

3. If the SSID name search is not searched the same as the smart phone, activate each of J, K, and L and enter the corresponding value correctly.

4. Check that the input values ​​are correct and type 'q' to exit.

5. Setting a static IP

  1. Enter 'Network Setup.' in the console menu and select 'DHCP OFF'.
  2. Enter the IP Address, GATEWAY Address, DNS1, DNS2, and SUBNET MASK assigned by the company network manager.
  3. Close the program normally and check the operation status.
